understanding the reasons behind your actions

Everything that we do has a why. Whether this why was embedded in our subconscious through constantly reminding ourselves of it, or we simply adopted it as a philosophy of a sort is a question for another discussion.

The thing is, though, it is always present. A system of beliefs that drives us forward, urge to either do or avoid something, what lies in the back of our head when we go and do even the most rudimentary of tasks… Getting rid of the fancy talk, it all boils down to the why.

Diversity, variety, sense of adventure, surprise… When you think about it, these are all just mere agents of escaping boredom created by endless repetition.

How our work lives look like, our interactions with friends and family, our social life in general, our diet, workouts, ways of having or not having fun, the feeling of being in our skin for a day… All of these tilt, sooner or later, towards familiarity and repetition, the end result of which is boredom, sense of being trapped; ricocheting over and over the same scenario, the same script until you fail to recognize purpose.

However jobs and bosses come and go, these days they are rarely for life. What we earn and how we earn it can change in the blink of an eye. But ‘US’ and ‘OUR lives’ will be with us until we die. What we do everyday shapes our lives, every decision and moment in our lives takes us down different routes.

So why is it then, when it comes to ourselves we often overlook the really important stuff? Our lives, the stuff we do each day are ‘our real job’ and we ourselves are in fact the most important ‘boss’ we will ever know.
